AMIETE

AMIETE (Associate Membership of Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers)

The IETE is the National Apex Professional body of Electronics and Telecommunication, Computer and IT Professionals  focuses on advancement of the Science and Technology of Electronics, Telecommunication, Computers, Information Technology and related areas. Towards this end the Institution promotes and conducts basic engineering and continuing technical education programmes for human resource development.

 The IETE conducts both the Graduateship (AMIETE) Examination in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering and Information Technology streams and Diploma (DIPIETE) Examination in Electronics & Telecommunication and Computer Science & Engineering streams. A pass in AMIETE Examination is recognised by Government of India for the purposes of recruitment to superior posts and services under the Central Government while a pass in Diploma Level (DIPIETE) Examination is recognised by the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India for the purpose of employment to posts & services under the Central Government in the appropriate field.

The IETE also conducts postgraduate level course ALCCS (Advanced Level Course in Computer Science) which is also recognised by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India, as equivalent to M. Tech in Computer Science for the appointment to superior posts & services under the Central Government.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

FOR AMIETE

a)     Not less than 16 years of age.

b)     Passed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics & Mathematics as mandatory subjects and working experience in relevant field

OR

Studying for higher qualification with Physics/Electrical/Electronics/Computers .

c)Diploma in Electronics Telecommunication / Electrical / Computers or diploma in any Engg/Technology courses (3 yr diploma) subject to the candidate having covered subjects of Maths & Physics of 10+2 level during the diploma courses.

FOR  DIPIETE

Not less than 14 years of age.

Passed class X or its equivalent of a recognised board of education with General Science, AND Working Experience in relevant field OR Studying for higher qualification with Physics/Maths/Engineering.

FOR  ALCCS

B.E./B.Tech/AMIETE/AMIE or any other equivalent qualification recognised by the Council of the IETE

or

MCA

or

MSc – Computer Science, Electronics, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Operation Research.

AMIETE EXAM   AND RESULT DATES 

The AMIETE exam is conducted twice in a year

EXAM PATTERN

AMIETE examination is divided in two Sections with 20 theory papers and a project work.  Each Section is divided in two parts viz. Part-I and Part-II.  The distribution of subjects is as under:

RESULT AND ADMISSION PROCEDURE

STUDENT MEMBERSHIP

A candidate is required to enroll himself/herself as a student member before he/she becomes eligible for appearing in AMIETE examination. The enrollment fee and other conditions are listed in Regulations and Syllabi for AMIETE examinations.

MINIMUM PERIOD OF MEMBERSHIP

A Student member shall be allowed to appear in the AMIETE Examination only after he/she has enrolled as a Student member with the Institution. Only those Student members who get enrolled on or before August and February will be allowed to appear in the next AMIETE Examination, held in December and June respectively. Such membership should be current at the time of submitting the examination application form. 

VALIDITY PERIOD

The student membership will be valid for 10 consecutive examinations from the date of enrollment. Thereafter, the student members not completing their AMIETE Examination are to seek re-enrollment by remitting applicable amount before or immediately after the expiry of the membership period to continue their membership to enable them to appear in the remaining papers and complete AMIETE. Any examination chance not availed by a student due to whatsoever reason will be counted within 10 examinations.

TIME LIMIT TO COMPLETE AMIETE

A student is required to complete AMIETE Examination within 2 enrollment periods from the date of initial enrollment.  The student will, therefore, be permitted to seek only one renewal of membership. Renewal is to be applied for before or immediately after the expiry of initial enrollment with continuity of enrollment maintained by the student. Any delayed enrollment entailing missed chances will be counted towards total number of examinations and no relaxation in this regard will be permissible. If the request for renewal is made after the stipulated period of 2 enrollments, admission will be treated as a fresh enrollment and no benefit in terms of exemptions in respect of subject(s) passed or exempted during the earlier enrollment will be granted. Students must renew their membership in time, otherwise they will not be allowed to appear in the AMIETE examination.

TIPS FOR AMIETE  EXAM:

Candidate concentrate on each section practiced by sample papers and previous year’s question paper  for mathematics as more questions will be asked from that section .Study the problems by doing it. Otherwise one  will not get enough speed or time for entrance exam as he needs to complete each question within a minute. Study other subjects after completing maths. candidates can make use of coaching centers and sample question papers.
