Indian Maritime University recognized by the Government of India conducts CET(Common Entrance Test) in the field of Nautical Sciences leading Diploma in Nautical Science leading to B.Sc. (Nautical Science)
The entrance test is conducted for the following course:
B Sc (Nautical Science)
1. Pass in 10+2 examination from a recognized Board / University with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM), with not less than 55% aggregate marks in PCM.
With Physics as an individual subject in any one of the years of B.Sc., with not less than 50% marks in the final year of B.Sc., from a recognized University provided that the candidate must have passed 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) from a recognised Board.
B.E./B. Tech. or it’s equivalent degree from I.I.T. or from a college recognized by AICTE/UGC.
2. Should have passed with not less than 50% marks in English as a separate subject, at either 10th or 12th standard or in the Degree programme conducted by a recognized Board/ University.
Should not be more than 25 years as on the commencement of course. The age limit is relaxable by 2 years in case of female candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.
Physical and Medical Standards:
Medically fit as per the standards set by Merchant Shipping Medical Examination Rules, 2000 as amended from time to time.
6/6 in each eye without visual aids. Normal colour vision. Candidates will have to undergo a full eyesight test conducted by the Mercantile Marine Department (MMD) before being finally selected for the programme

The Common Entrance Examination shall have 180 objective type multiple choice questions each carrying one mark distributed in six subjects which are to be attempted in 3 hours duration. The standard of this Common Entrance Test will generally be that of 10+2 level.

Chemistry 30 questions
English 30 questions
General Knowledge 30 questions
Mathematics 30 questions
Physics 30 questions
Reasoning Aptitude 30 questions

Other than this in Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata and Vishakhapatnam but decision depends on IMU.

Selection to the course is based on the performance of candidates in IMU-CET, limited for wards of employees of Kandla Port Trust which is scheduled to be held at “Indian Maritime
University; Kandla Port Campus; Port Colony; New Kandla (Gujarat) Pin- 370210”

TIPS FOR IMUCET EXAM:
Candidate concentrate on each section practiced by sample papers and previous year’s question paper for mathematics as more questions will be asked from that section .Study the problems by doing it.Physical fitness is one of the important aspect for this exam. One needs to get enough speed for the exam as he needs to complete each question. All the subjects are important to Study .Candidates can make use of coaching centers and sample question papers.
