The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) was set up in 1963 by the Government of India as an autonomous organization to help professionalize the country’s foreign trade management and increase exports by developing human resources; generating, analyzing and disseminating data; and conducting research.

Seats are reserved as per Government of India rules. The reservations are subject to candidates meeting the admission requirement of the Institute under different categories.
For Foreign Nationals / NRI / Children of NRIs:
Seats are reserved for Foreign Nationals, NRIs and Children of NRIs and the admission is considered on the basis of General Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) score of which should not have been declared before January and should be received by the Institute latest by March .

Pattern of Admission Test
The admission test is a multiple choice objective type written test (in English).
Duration of the test is two hours and will cover English Comprehension, General Knowledge & Awareness, Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Analysis.

MODE OF ADMISSION
For General/SC/ST/PH/OBC category :
Selection will be on the basis of Written Test, Group Discussion, Essay Writing and Interview. Based on the marks of Written Test, a limited number of candidates will be invited for second phase of selection process comprising Group Discussion, Essay Writing and Interview
For Foreign National/NRI/Children of NRI :
On the basis of General Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) score.
RESULT AND ADMISSION PROCEDURE
The entrance procedure is a 3-stage process: First is the written test covering areas of Quantitative Ability, Logic and Reasoning, English etc. The short-listed people will then have to appear for the Group Discussions, Essay Writing and Personal Interviews
Tips for IIFT Exam:
Focus a lot on your calculations, since Data Interpretation will be number crunching. Read up GK and most importantly solve last few years’ IIFT papers
It is always better to attempt good number of questions, but as there would be negative marking, so avoid making wild guesses. If you are 50 per cent sure of an answer, you can take a calculated risk
Different sections would be Quant, DI, Verbal, Comprehension and GK. For GK, you can read different materials given by MBA coaching institutes. You can also purchase some good GK book and prepare. Current affairs are very important.
