About MAT – Management Aptitude Test

All India Management Aptitude Testing Service (AIMATS), New Delhi conducts the Management Aptitude Test (MAT) as the National Entrance Test for admission to MBA and equivalent programmes of the various participating institutes. Approved by the Government of India, MAT results are accepted by All India Management Association – Centre for Management Education (AIMA-CME) and other AICTE-approved Management Institutes (MI) and university departments. Besides having test centers all over India, MAT is also conducted in overseas locations.MAT is usually conducted 4 times each year in February, May, September and December.MAT is a two and a half hour test. After the examination Candidates would be getting calls (on the basis of scores) from colleges for GD/PI. Candidates need to sit for the GD/PI organized by colleges to get admitted for the MBA programme of the respective college.

Tips for MAT Exams

Since MAT exam consists of mainly three sections and they are
1) Quantitative Aptitude
2) Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation
3) Verbal Section

Now coming to the actual preparation part in a month time make sure that you cover all the three sections and allot at-least 1 week of time per month for each section and based on the level of confidence in a particular section try to vary the time period.

It’s always a better option to attend a coaching center as by sitting at home we may gain knowledge but some useful tips cannot be gained by doing self studies. These tips are only provided by various institutes across the country.

How to apply Candidate can choose any one of the following modes to apply.

  • Obtain Form with MAT Bulletin/CD against cash payment of Rs.1200(subject to change) from listed branches of Bank of Baroda, Axis Bank, listed Study Centres of AIMA OR from AIMA, New Delhi.


  • Obtain crossed Demand Draft (DD) of Rs 1200/-(subject to change) in favour of ‘All India Management Association’ payable at Delhi from any Bank. Register online at website alongwith the DD details. Detailed procedure is given on the website link.


  • Register online at website link with Credit Card payment. Detailed procedure is given on the website link.

Four Digit codes for Management Institutes/University Departments accepting the MAT Score are given in the List of Participating Institutes/Universities as MI Code. There are five blocks consisting of four boxes each given in the Form. Fill the codes of those five institutes only where you have applied or are applying for admission.

Important Notice: Applicants are advised to check the approval/recognition status of various programs directly from the concerned Authorities/ Institutes/ Universities.

  • Test Centre City list will be provided in the bulletin. Test Venues for Paper-Based Test and Computer Based Test are different.
  • The Paper-Based Test will take place only on one day in February(Specific date will be declared by AIMA)  at one time slot i.e., 10.00am-12.30pm(usually), whereas the Computer Based Test will take place in February(Specific date will be declared by AIMA) in different time slots.

MAT Registration Form Acknowledgement

  • All Forms received at AIMA will be scanned / validated within 3 days and the Form Numbers of such received forms will be available on website link:   .

Further, your form will be scrutinized and if found in order; it will be provisionally registered.

MAT Registration Form received later than the due date is liable to be rejected. Neither any correspondence in this regard will be entertained nor will the fee be refunded.
