 Dr. B R Ambedkar Open University:

Dr.B.R. Ambedkar Open University is formerly known as Andhra Pradesh Open University, is located in the city of Hyderabad. The University stands with other leading Open Universities in India.

The Open University has the wide network of 206 study centers spread throughout the state of Andhra Pradesh. The main motto of this University is to place “Education at Your Doorstep”. The University, the first of its kind in the Country was brought into being through an act of Andhra Pradesh State Legislature in August,1982.
Dr. BRAOU follows a multi-media teaching-learning approach which broadly comprises self-learning print material, supported by audio, video lessons and regular broadcast of lessons through All India Radio. From November, 1999 the University started Telecast of Video lessons through Doordarshan Regional Channel. The University adopts a multimedia approach for instruction, i.e., printed Programs material, radio lessons, audio and video lessons, contact – cum – counseling classes, winter and summer schools for intensive coaching by experts. The Programs materials, including radio and video lessons in each subject, are selected and prepared by a team of Programs writers, editors and translators in collaboration with specialists in various disciplines from different Universities, Research Institutions and other relevant organizations. The printed materials are sent to the student through postal or courier services. The cassettes are made available through the study centers.

The University keeps in touch with its students spread over the entire State through regular mail. Between fifteen to twenty letters are dispatched to each student in a year. The university has so far published more than 250 volumes of Programs materials, covering as many as 30 different disciplines.

Delhi University School of open learning:

The School of Open Learning [a part of the Campus of Open Learning] formerly  known as The School of Correspondence Courses and Continuing Education, established under the University of Delhi in 1962, is a pioneer Institution in the field of Distance Education in India.

The country witnessed the beginning of an alternate mode of education when the School started with a modest admission of 900 students in 1962. The School enrolled more than two lakhs students in the Academic Session 2006-2007. On many occasions our students have been toppers in various disciplines. The admission process for various courses in the School is governed by the norms established by the University of Delhi. The examination is also conducted by the University of Delhi. The University of Delhi confers the degree to the students of the School as it does in the case of its other constituent colleges. Utkal University Directorate of Distance and Continuing Education

The Utkal University founded in 1943 is the 17th University of the country and the first of Orissa province. Pandit Nilakantha Dash, Maharaja Krushna Chandra Gajapati and Pandit Godavarish Mishra, amongst other doyens of modern Orissa, played a leading role in the establishment of the University. On the 27th Nov. 1943, the Utkal University started functioning at Ravenshaw College ( now University), Cuttack. It was originally an affiliating and examining body only. The University shifted to its present campus spread over 400 acres of land at Vanivihar in Bhubaneswar in 1962.

A number of Post-Graduate Departments and other centers were established in the University Campus. There are more than two hundred general affiliated colleges under the University. The University has thirteen Autonomous Colleges under its jurisdiction.
